La editorial española Turner se atrevió a darle voz a estos personajes, junto con la multitud de clérigos, seminaristas, soldados, galeotes, curas, pastoras, porquerizos, venteros y mujeres enamoradas que pueblan todo el universo de esta obra.

El proyecto se grabó en España bajo la dirección de Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, quien en el 2000 hizo una versión cinematográfica de este clásico cervantino.

"Para el cuarto centenario de El Quijote hay muchos proyectos. Lo que nosotros hicimos fue buscar algo especial, que nadie había hecho. Esto fue la grabación de la obra completa", explica Juan García Oteyza, director general de Turner México.

Por lo pronto, el Ministerio de Cultura de España adquirió cinco mil audiolibros de El Quijote para distribuirlos en las bibliotecas de ese país. "Ello facilitó la grabación que fue tan cara", aclara García Oteyza.

El director de Turner en México asegura que los audiolibros son maravillosos para escucharlos en el coche, sobre todo para personas que pasan de tres a cinco horas diarias en éste. Guanajuato, que desde 1988 es Patrimonio de la Humanidad, será designada en marzo "capital cervantina de América" por parte de la UNESCO y por autoridades de la región española de Castilla-La Mancha, señaló a EFE el presidente de la Fundación Cervantina de México, Eulalio Ferrer.

La Academia Mexicana de la Lengua celebrará una sesión pública solemne en la misma ciudad, en abril, en homenaje a Miguel de Cervantes.

Al mes siguiente, se reunirán en Guanajuato, en el marco del XVI Coloquio Internacional Cervantino, destacados expertos en la obra de Cervantes, algunos provenientes de países tan distantes como Japón o China.

Doce conferencias magistrales y varias mesas redondas ofrecerán distintas visiones del Quijote a los 400 años de su existencia literaria, entre el 23 y el 28 de mayo, y este foro culminará con el estreno mundial de la obra musical "Un ingenioso hidalgo en América", del argentino Luis Bacalov, creador de "Misa Tango" y la música de la película "El cartero de Neruda".

La obra, hecha por encargo, integra sones musicales de América con la música de los tiempos del Quijote.

En ese mes también se lanzará una edición especial del Quijote, de 3.000 ejemplares, algunos de los cuales se donarán a la biblioteca del Centro de Estudios Cervantinos (CEC). "La Fundación Cervantina prepara una edición rara con las principales ponencias que, a lo largo de 15 años, se han presentado en el Coloquio Internacional Cervantino, con 40 ilustraciones de obras originales del Museo Iconográfico", detalló Ferrer.

La portada, precisó, tendrá "la interpretación más clásica de los ilustradores del Quijote, que es la de Moreno Carbonero, maestro de Picasso, y uno de los grandes pintores actuales de España, Eduardo Arroyo, con una cabeza originalísima del Quijote".

En junio se celebrará un concurso de grabados sobre el tema, cuyas obras ganadoras conformarán una nueva sala del Museo Iconográfico, que cada año atrae a unos 200.000 visitantes.

La Fundación Cervantina donará también nuevas esculturas y grabados al Museo, además de libros relacionados con la obra de Cervantes al CEC, cuya biblioteca contiene casi la totalidad de la crítica que se ha hecho de don Quijote desde fines del siglo XIX.

Cinco destacados escritores de Estados Unidos, cuyos nombres no han sido definidos todavía, presentarán en julio en México la visión del Quijote desde la mentalidad de ese país y desde su propia sensibilidad, un encuentro que será encabezado por el poeta mexicano Homero Aridjis, presidente emérito del PEN Club.

Además, habrá un concurso escolar de obras basadas en el Quijote y se hará un recorrido itinerante por todo el estado de Guanajuato, aunque "la idea es ver si esa exposición de obras infantiles puede recorrer algunos lugares de España, por ejemplo La Mancha", dijo Ferrer.

En octubre se realizará el ya tradicional Festival Cervantino, de una semana de duración. Las celebraciones del IV centenario concluirán en noviembre con la inauguración de la nueva sede del Museo Iconográfico del Quijote y del CEC, que por primera vez estarán en un mismo edificio, de 10.000 metros cuadrados, cedido por la Universidad de Guanajuato. Precisamente, José María Barreda calificó como "importante" el año que se avecina por celebrarse en 2005 el IV Centenario de la publicación de la primera edición de Don Quijote de la Mancha por lo que, en su opinión, hay que aprovechar este evento "para recordar a España, a Europa y a todo el mundo que La Mancha existe y que Castilla-La Mancha es una Región apasionante y apasionada que se puede y se debe visitar".

De este modo, el presidente del Ejecutivo castellano-manchego expresó su intención de aprovechar esta seña de identidad que es, a la par, nuestra y universal "para dar un salto cualitativo en el tiempo ahora que los castellano-manchegos somos dueños de nuestro propio destino y estamos demostrando ser capaces de gobernarnos a nosotros mismos".

A su juicio, son muchas las cosas que se han alcanzado en un corto espacio de tiempo, pero desde una posición realista indicó que también son otras muchas las que quedan por conseguir, de ahí que reiterara su consejo de aprovechar al máximo este próximo año.

"Creo que las cosas están bien. Soy optimista. Tengo mucha confianza en Castilla-La Mancha y en su futuro porque confío plenamente en la capacidad de esta tierra y en el trabajo y el compromiso con ese futuro de mis paisanos.
